1.      Poveglia Island, Italy

This island is well known for the hiding place of mainlanders form the invaders. Located near Venice, this island is known as a scary place because of the ghostly activities. This haunted site was used in 1400 to burn many people to death and in 1800 for torturing mentally sick persons. Many people have seen and sense so many times about the scary activities. People have heard scary screaming and horrifying voices. Furthermore, it is said that many people have seen a dark shadow moving. People say that the moment you enter this place you will start feeling an evil presence and that you will be cursed.

2.      Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town

Located in Cape Town, South Africa, this is a castle. This old haunted castle is standing since the 17th century and was built by Dutch East India Company. This castle is known as the oldest build right now in South Africa. The first ghostly activity was seen in the early 20th century on record. It was a tall gentleman who fell from the roof and then was seen standing in the balcony. After some years, some people saw a grey lady running and crying hard. The lady was seen holding her face every time she was running. Also, people have heard bell ranging in the tower and other unusual activities too. However, the current situation is not so scary as the building is now a tourist spot with the proper guide.

3.      Burg Wolfsegg, Germany

This castle was built almost 800 years ago. Woman moving here and there in white is very popular as a ghost. There is a cave in the woods. This castle was built by Ulrich Von Laaber for a gift to his wife. Later, his wife had an affair with Georg Moller, a native businessman. Ulrich then murdered his wife and Georg went into the woods after seeing her lovers murder. Ulrich and his son and Georg were never seen again. They were disappeared and this was the first reason for this place to be known as the haunted castle.

This castle was once owned by the King Henry IV of France who later gifted it Charles II. It was a thank you gift for being loyal. But later on, there happened a murder just like most haunted castles or houses. Charlotte was a lady who was married to a noble person. They weren’t happy nor they were disturbed by their marriage. They were just living without any love and one-night servant woke his Lord and tell that Charlotte is sleeping with her lover.

Charlotte’s husband killed her and then every morning he heard voices of her and her lovers moaning. It is said that Charlotte has been seen many times in a green dress in which she was brutally killed. However, currently the royal family who lives in the Castle say that they hear voices of Charlotte crying but they ignore it. But the guests who come feel quite uncomfortable and afraid.

5.      Akershus Festning, Norway

This castle is known as the most haunted place of Norway. This huge fortress or castle is located by the Oslo Harbor. It was built in the 13th century after an attack. This fortress size is equal to almost 13 football fields. In the past, it was used for the battles. Akershus survived 8 attacks from Swedish army staying in this castle. A ghost dog named Malcanisen is famous and also there are rumors of many ghostly soldiers in the underground dungeons. This is one of the most haunted places in the world and is scaring Norwegian people for the past few decades.
